Wąchock - a town known throughout Poland for the jokes about the local village leader, yet it is an old location town, with a serious history like many others in old Poland. Its riverside landscape is dominated by the characteristic shape of the Cistercian monastery.

Meanwhile, it was also a major economic, and cultural center on top of being a religious site. One could say that Wąchock is a patriotic center for the entire Sandomierz region - during the January Uprising, the city was the "capital" of the Polish underground state. During the last world war, it witnessed partisan battles.
